Summary

“In 2018, my father was treated for skin cancer. Unfortunately, he was not alone. He was one of 30 million Americans who are currently skin cancer survivors. And by 2040, Melanoma, the most severe form of skin cancer, will be the number one cancer among men. That's why I partnered with my mother, a dermatologist of 30 years, to start Get Mr.She knew, like every dermatologist knows, that for these statistics to change meaningfully, men need to start applying sunscreen like they brushed their teeth, Every Damn Day®. The problem was, most sunscreens, well, you know...they were too greasy, or the ingredients would irritate their eyes. Or worst of all, they would show up white in their beard. Plus, most of the products used chemicals like oxybenzone or avobenzone, ones that the FDA no longer considered 100% GRAS (generally recognized as safe).”-Elianna Goldstein --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/skincareanarchy/messageSupport this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/skincareanarchy/supportSupport the show

2:10.8

And I guess I have to admit, since Beth, as I'll call her, happens to be my mother, I definitely grew up.

2:20.8

I would say with skin care being a topic on my mind, having a dermatologist for a mother can do that to you, wearing sunscreen and loads of it from an early age.

2:30.8

But I really, you know, I got started in this business about two years ago when my mother first reached out and she started just talking anecdotally, we'd always talked about the fact that I was so much easier at wearing sunscreen every day compared to my brothers.

2:48.8

But we really started thinking around this topic, she'd seen for years and years, which was this problem around helping more men to find ways to easily embed sunscreen into their daily routine, not the moan, the, that process.

3:05.8

Yeah, no, that's such an interesting, you know, topic that you bring up. And I love that you're, you know, you're really focusing on that because that's the biggest hurdle that I find that just, you know, not only as a consumer,

3:17.8

but just speaking to people, you know, day in and day out is that, how do we get men to understand that, you know, when it comes to skin care, the one product you need, a sunscreen.
