Summary

“Your kids can drive you nuts. They’re crazy. They’re struggling. They can be ungrateful. They can test and frustrate you like nothing else. But before you complain or despair...”

Welcome to the Daily Dad podcast where we provide one lesson every day to help you with your

0:14.1

most important job being a dad. These are lessons inspired by ancient philosophy, by practical

Don't despair. Just wait. Your kids can drive you nuts. They're crazy. They're struggling. They can

0:39.9

be ungrateful. They can test and frustrate you like nothing else. But before you complain or despair,

0:46.5

there's an expression attributed to Mark Twain, usually popular with wise old timers in places with

0:51.7

unpredictable climate that goes like this. Don't like the weather?

0:56.4

Wait five minutes. People who say this have been around long enough to know how fast things can

1:01.8

shift, how surprised you can be. Well, kids are like that too, just when you've had enough,

1:06.5

just when you think that maybe you've screwed them up beyond repair, just when you're about to lose your

1:11.3

temper, that's when they get you. They roll over, and before they fall asleep, they say something like, you fill up my whole heart, Daddy, I love you so much. Or without a word, they break the popsicle they've been screaming four and half and give it to their sister. Or they show you a paper they wrote for school and it's better than you could possibly imagine. Or they repeat, as Jack Harbaugh's son did, some lesson you gave them 20 years ago

1:33.2

and thought they blew off. So when things get hard when you're having those doubts, just wait.

1:38.4

Wait five minutes. Wait five days. Who knows? Something is coming. Something will melt your

1:43.4

heart. Something that will blow

1:45.3

your mind and restore your faith. It's coming. You just may have to wait for it.

who would benefit from these messages, please spread the word. Thanks.
