We're all full of longings, the longing for happiness, for change, for comfort, for awe, and for love.

And these longings aren't necessarily bad in themselves, in many cases they're gifts from God.

But we go wrong when we start trying to satisfy those longings in the

wrong ways. In our interview today, I'm talking with Amy DeMarcangelo about how our many

longings point us to Christ, the only person who understands our every need and offers us

eternal joy in himself. Amy's new book is called A Hunger for

More, Finding Satisfaction in Jesus when the good life doesn't fill you from Crossway. Let's get

started. Well, Amy, thank you so much for joining me today on the Crossplay podcast.

I'm happy to be here. Thanks for having me.

So, Amy, in your book, you talk about your life a little bit.

You talk about growing up and the Christian home that you grew up in, the loving home that you were a part of.

You talk about your husband and your kids who are healthy and the solid

churches that you've been a part of throughout the years. And so in short, you kind of acknowledge

pretty early on that your life has been full of blessing in a lot of ways. And yet you say,

despite all of that, you often find yourself aching for more.

So I wonder if you could just unpack that ache for us.

What is that ache?

Yeah, I think it's just a sense of it not being enough, that all these good things that I look around my life and I'm so thankful

for them and realizing, but it's not enough to fulfill me, that they're still a longing for

something more. And that ache is sort of uncomfortable because I want to arrive to a place where I feel like

everything's good and I'm fully satisfied. And I think I can mix up, you know, what if this is

maybe sinful discontentment. That's what I wanted to ask about. How do you, how do you distinguish
