0:15.4	series right now. We're exploring the stories around Jesus's birth and the
0:19.5	prophecies pointing forward to it.
0:24.4	The Christmas story is full of unexpected plot twists.
0:28.0	The unpredictable and unexpected are the norm.
0:31.2	But we're so familiar with the story that we overlook or at least
0:34.9	don't appreciate all the twists and turns the story takes. But if you can just
0:39.0	slow down for a second and look at the Christmas story through fresh eyes, I think you'll agree that there are
0:44.1	a plot twist that if you and I were the author, we would have never been bold enough to include.
0:49.6	Would I have had the Messiah born in such humble circumstances? Or would I have chosen the
0:54.0	Savior to be born to an unmarried young girl? Jesus as the product of a
0:59.2	scandalous pregnancy? Really? Would I have written a story in which the good news of Jesus' birth was announced to lowly
1:06.7	shepherds and not to well-connected and influential business people?
1:11.9	See, this is all important because there are times when we wonder
1:14.9	God why are you writing the story of my life like you are? If you've ever wondered
1:20.4	why your story is turning out the way it is. If maybe even now you're
1:24.7	disappointed with the way your life is going, then the Christmas story is a great
1:29.0	reminder that God always writes better stories than you and I do. If we would have written the Christmas
1:35.2	story, we would have had a lot of prestigious people, a lot of powerful, smart, influential people.
1:41.6	We would have had a story filled with heroes in which everything turned out well.
1:47.2	Do you know how I know that? Because that's how we attempt to write our own story.
