Grateful for all of you, grateful for all of you. My name is Bro, by the way, in case we never met before. And I get to be on the teaching team with this wonderful place. Literally showing up here on weekends is one of my favorite things in my life. So I'm grateful for you guys. And today is Super Bowl Sunday.

0:45.7	friendships, having people over and stuff. And who knows what God might do with a simple Super Bowl
0:50.9	party. So I'll be praying for you, those of you that are hosting something like
0:54.3	that today. It's going to be a good day. Hey, we're in a series. We're calling Kingslayer.
0:58.4	We're taking some kings from the pages of the Old Testament of the Bible, and we're kind of
1:03.2	dissecting what it was that ended up taking them out. And today, the king is a guy named Saul,
1:15.2	and the King Slayer is a little thing called envy.
1:19.7	Now, actually, even though it pretends to be, envy is not a little thing.
1:23.4	And just like the other two king slayers that we've already talked about,
1:29.3	Nebuchadnezzar and his pride and Solomon and his isolation and poor relationship choices, this one envy can take you and me out in a hurry or it can just suddenly erode your soul just a little bit every day.
1:37.3	And all of these other would-be assassins that we're talking about in this series,
1:42.3	they all have an opposite virtue. For example, the opposite of pride is humility. The opposite of anger is forgiving love.
1:51.5	The opposite of greed is generosity. The opposite of gluttony is self-control. Envy opposes
1:59.0	all those virtues. Envy defiles everything it touches.
2:03.6	It desires that no good thing happen to anybody else,
2:07.6	be owned by any else, or be in relationship with anybody else.
2:12.6	And envy is different from all these other kingslayers in another way.
