0:15.6	I recently finished the Discovery Channel's three-part documentary about HillSowing Church and
0:20.1	the scandal around it with its celebrity pastor Carl Wens.
0:23.8	Now it's a story you've heard.
0:25.4	I've heard way, way too many times.
0:27.6	A young guy moves to the big city.
0:29.6	He watches a church that grows exponentially. He becomes a celebrity pastor and he ends up
0:35.0	rolling up to his church like a celebrity in a limo with an entourage wearing his
0:39.1	designer clothes and then he becomes a pastor to celebrities going on trips with Justin Bieber hanging out with Jay-Z.
0:46.0	And then the scandal breaks. He'd been cheating on his wife for months before the scandal opened up.
0:51.0	And then the scandal worsens because it turns out
0:53.7	that this kind of behavior has been a part of his life
0:56.2	well before he even planted the church in New York.
0:59.4	And it's pretty clear that Hillson covered it up
1:01.4	to protect the brand. And then the show comes out as it always
1:05.1	comes out and people love it, they watch it. It's a vicious cycle isn't it? We love
1:09.6	celebrity, so we want church celebrities. We also love celebrity drama and we absolutely love a celebrity
1:15.8	falling from grace and so of course Christian media gives us more of what we want.
1:19.9	Those Christian celebrities falling from grace.
