my daughter and she's doing horrible i asked the english teacher what am I supposed to tell my daughter? I said, my daughter speaks very well. She really does. She came to me and she asked me, why do I need to know what a noun is? That's a good question. And I said, because the school said you need to do it. She said, well, don't you think they could be teaching us like what a balance sheet is or what

tax bracket we're going to be in? I'm not saying it's not relevant, but couldn't they be doing

something better with our time? No, because they need you on a highway, grinding five days a week for

And I got a little triggered as an English major. You all know I'm

English major. So I wanted to have a conversation with someone who I think will have a very

Thanks for having me. I'm great. Thanks for coming through. I feel like we do need to renegotiate

what an education looks like today. I do believe there

are vestiges of our current system that, you know, I'm still trying to figure out what I need

this protractor for, you know, in geometry and I'm not going to be an engineer. But these are all

little skills when put together make you a

well-rounded citizen or a well-rounded human being who can negotiate other people, places,

and things. It broadens your perspective on life. You learn how to get along. You learn how to

fight and conflict resolve. And you learn

how to diagram a sentence and what a noun is and a conjunction and all these things because we still
