| 1:24.0 | That goal captured the imagination of the public as well as those in Congress. |

| 1:33.3 | When President Kennedy set that as a goal, the United States had only put one astronaut into space for all of 15 minutes. |
| 1:45.0 | And number two, they weren't even sure that they could actually land a spacecraft on the moon and have it take off. |
| 1:58.0 | Not from a technological standpoint, an engineering standpoint. |
| 2:02.8 | They weren't entirely sure what the surface of the moon was like. |
| 2:07.1 | It was possible that it was layers and layers of fine dust |
| 2:11.8 | and the spacecraft would simply sink. |
| 2:14.9 | Not good. |
