The NFL scouting combine begins officially today inside Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the Colts.

It runs through the coming weekend.

It brings together 319 invited prospects who will engage in all kinds of measurement hijinks in hopes of impressing the 32 sets of team officials and scouts and other evaluators on hand.

Most of that type of stuff doesn't really get going until Thursday, meaning the workouts, the stuff that ends up getting

televised.

The other thing that happens, in fact, the thing that really happens to tell the truth,

is that when you put that many football people into the same space,

and they're running into each other, morning, noon, and even at night,

downtown Indianapolis being even more compact than ours, and a fairly limited number of

places that you can hang out, there will be discussions, some internal, a lot external.
