Mike Williams is on the way. He's going to join the offense.

After the trade yesterday at the NFL's deadline, it sent a fifth rounder to the Jets for his services.

But I'm not expecting that he will or that he should be the next

that was one trade. The other was bringing edge rusher Preston Smith over from the Packers

for a seventh round pick. And both of those, as I said after the trades on yesterday afternoon's double shot show,

they're fine. They're fair exchanges. They address areas that needed to be addressed in terms of

depth. Neither of them was going to be some sort of explosive addition given where both of them

are in their careers on the wrong side of 30 and all that other stuff.

But, you know, it's okay.

The moves were okay.

But what has to happen as a result of the move specifically to bring in Williams is that somebody's got to become either WR2 or de facto WR2.

And I've been pushing for one individual for several months now.

And I kind of thought maybe the Steelers saw it the same way when they decided to offer

Pat Friermouth a gazillion dollars

and an extension that made apparent to everyone that they saw him

as one of the better pass-catching tight ends in the National Football League.
