I really didn't want to talk about this because I really, really, really didn't think anything would come of it.

The NFL suspended D.K. Metcalf for two games because of that incident with the fan

in Detroit during the second quarter Sunday, I'll be beyond stunned if there isn't an appeal

of this. And I'll be beyond stunned if there isn't an appeal of this, and I'll be beyond stunned if the suspension isn't reduced or even eliminated.

Now, I'm not here to go over the various angles of the video like it's the Zapruder film.

I'm not going to waste a split second of my life reading the stuff that this

fan or his lawyer has magically posted all over creation, like minutes after it happened, because I don't

care about that fan. I care even less about his lawyer, and it couldn't have been clearer who was

attempting to instigate something. Similarly I'm not going to look at this from the perspective of

whatever Metcalf might have to say or what's already gotten out there through his agent suggesting

that the fan derided Metcalf via a racist term, said something about

Metcalf's mother. Instead, I'm going to share a couple of things that I believe are real issues

related to this and to this sort of thing. I was in Detroit in the press box covering this game.

This entertaining, not even that electric game with a ton on the line for both sides,

with just an extraordinary ending.

And I'm not going to lie, I had one eye out to see what the public's reaction, the general public's reaction, might be

to this sidebar and whether or not it would supersede, you know, the main event.

Because in the moment and being there, I can tell you, it didn't feel like a single thing.
