Cubs 7, Pirates 6 yesterday in Chicago, Cubs winning by a walkoff in the bottom of the night.

If you've seen that scene and heard that stupid, God, awful song they play at Wrigley after

the Cubs win, that thing probably stuck in your heart like a rusty dagger.

Then, if you recall that O'Neill Cruz opened the game with a home run,

that Brandon Lau hit a grand slam and then another home run,

and that there was a 6-2 lead, yeah, it makes it all the worst, but especially at that

place. There's just something about that place where the stupid stuff happens, like that ball

plopping into shallow left field, like Brian Reynolds being in between on that throw that ended up looking

terrible. He'd explain later that he didn't even want to throw it. It just came out of his hand

because of indecision. But here's something to understand. And I said something similar after the

season opening series that I covered over in New York.
