Wonderful return for Johan Oviedo yesterday at PNC Park.

And yes, this was his return.

Be fair, that thing a few days ago was always going to be a big challenge for him emotionally and everything else,

especially with how amped up he tends to be in life.

Oviedo with one run and two hits over five innings against a first place opponent,

and afterward in the clubhouse was just mobbed by his teammates,

who know better than anyone what he's been through and not being able to pitch at all since 2023.

Can't help but be happy for him.

If you look at the series overall, the Pirates take two of three from, I'll say it again,

a first place opponent.

The Blue Jays are 74 and 54.

Cap tips here also to Kyle Nicholas with two scoreless innings of relief, Isaac

Mattson and Dennis Santana with one each to round it out. Tommy Pham took a break from hearing

voices in his head to come up with a two-for-four-day, two-run double within that. And yet,

this wasn't going to be the headline on this day.
