One of the many things I've appreciated about Dan Muz's candor throughout his brief tenure in Pittsburgh

is that it'll come after wins just as often as it does after losses, and I'll explain what that means.

Puck will drop at 7.10 p.m. inside what I'm expecting will be another bombastic capacity crowd at PPG P arena. This, of course, after the 4-2

victory in Game 4 that prolonged the series, after which Mew said, and I thought

compellingly so, that he was obviously pleased with the effort,

he was pleased with the performance, he was pleased to keep playing.

But he also said there's more there.

He has been pretty good about not just noticing that, but publicly recognizing it as it's occurred throughout the season.

He's not okay with the final score, let's say, masking a game that didn't actually see the Penguins very best.

I'm not going to lie to you from where I was watching in the press box in Philadelphia,

it wasn't their best. It was their best of the playoffs. It wasn't their best. It wasn't their best out

of what we'd seen over the previous six months. Now, that, of course, has plenty to do with an opponent

in any context. But I also would like to think I know what the penguins look like when

they're really on, and that wasn't it. What it did look like is the beginning of when they

start to get very on. Mews wasn't the only one who seemed to feel

that way. Siddy Crosby said that the penguins, quote, looked more like ourselves,

end quote. Notice he's not saying, looked like ourselves. He said looked more like ourselves.

And from there, maybe, just maybe.
