Senators 4, Penguins 0. Up in Ottawa, take your pick. A shutouts, a shutouts, a shutout. That's bad.

Defensively, two of the three pairings were absolutely abysmal. The only exception,

being Eric Carlson and Parker Waterspoon, as usual. Archer Shilovs, who hasn't won a game

since early October, but still keeps getting

chances, gave up goals on three of the senator's first nine shots. And hey, you know what? On top of all

that, the refs really seriously stuck it to the Penguins with not one terrible call, but two,

both of which were beyond pivotal in the outcome.

So, that's seven losses in a row. And for anybody who was waiting on this to say he told you

so, or even something as innocent sounding is, yeah, but this is what we all were saying. This is

what we all should have expected.

Congrats to you and yours. Some nice prizes out back on your way out.

But I've got two problems with writing this off with saying, you know what?

They're broken. We all knew that it would be broken.

And let's start looking ahead the next season.

One problem. And I don't care if anybody's sick of hearing me say this. The Penguins have 37 points

through 33 games. They're 12th in the Eastern Conference. There are four points out of third

in the Eastern Conference.

Two wins this weekend against the Canadians, another group that's right in that pack.

And all of a sudden, everything's awesome again.
