Welcome back everyone to the epic gardening podcast, the man himself, Farmer Nick is on

the podcast.

He is much more than a farmer really, urban farmer, community gardener, actually really

well known I think Nick for not so much the edible plants, but also the ornamentals

the house plants.

And you do a lot with house plants, I think as you're in New York right now, you've

been kind of covering a lot of different house plant topics, running around to some of

your favorite nurseries.

And so I think before you begin on some low waste house plant ideas, what's the draw for

you on house plants and how do you live with them, what kind of what kind of ones you have

right now, just give us a background.

You know Kevin, I have a confession to make and I don't think I've ever said this publicly

but I really think I'm a house plant dad in disguise like really I'm a gardener, I'm

an agriculturalist at heart, okay, and that's that's where my roots are right and when I moved

to New York City three years after graduating living at home with my parents, I lost the

garden and I did what any rational human would do and I bought about a hundred house plants.

Of course very rational, very rational and what I found is that if my goals ultimately

to make the world greener, more delicious, more nutritious, I need to ensure that someone

has an entry way right and the plants are very much that kind of gateway drug to gardening,

growing your own food, sustainability, they're stepping stones towards that kind of lifestyle

and it was my philosophy that if I can get you to care about this small plant on your desk,

I can get you to care about the big plant we all live on and that's kind of where I've
