Two of the diceiest, most adventurous, most rigorous backcountry hunts I've ever been on were

spotting stock hunts for spring black bears.

One was in Montana, the other was in Idaho. Now hunting

black bears in the springtime was a great way to keep those hunting juices

flowing when there's no antler game to hunt in the west during the so-called

off season, right? With such a hunt plan you'll be motivated to stay in shape,

you'll get your backcountry fix and and you'll see some awesome country.

A spot and stock hunting for spring bears does not offer as high of success rates, as baitingiting does for spring bears. However it is more

adventurous and it's more physical. Most of all it's more possible for folks traveling far to hunt.

Unless you've got a local pal that establishes in tens bait stations,

or you hire an outfitter, hunting out of state over bait just isn't an option.
