It was number one back in March of 1972 and the very next week it was replaced by

Gilbert O'Sullivan's alone again naturally. We really

liked sad sappy songs back in the 70s. Hey buzzkill put it on. The Social

Security Agency reports that Brandy as a baby name back in 1971 was

353rd on the list. By 1973 the following year after the song came out, it was 82.

So, you know, a lot of people, it's like,

this is what I want for my child, for her to work in a bar and pine after a sailor who will want nothing to do with her, you know,

let's call her that!

I didn't know that, but that's to show the power of popular music.
