I told you that Mike was at no hostage personality and he told me that many times. I don't believe

in hostages. I traveled to Salem to meet with Phil, Kevin and Pat in person.

Kevin recalled an old story about Mike that actually made a local paper and pretty much

summed up his attitude about surviving a threat. In 1976, it was the story about the assistant

attorney general from New Mexico who was at that Long Beach Naval Station doing his naval reserve
