Then OPEC reportedly sent letters to its members urging them to resist such language.

OPEC wants the focus to be on reducing emissions.

COP28 has yielded commitments to do things like increased nuclear power generation and cut

methane emissions from oil production.

But the International Energy Agency says those commitments are not enough because they'll

reduce emissions by only a third of the amount needed to meet the targets of the Paris Climate

Accord and prevent warming beyond 1.5
