Here's something from my childhood.

If we could talk to the animals, just imagine it.

Chatting with a chimpanzee.

Imagine talking to a tiger.

Chatting with a cheetah.

What a neat achievement it would be.

It's from Dr. Do Little, and I think it's stuck with me.

Whenever I'm out doing field work or on a hike, I've not only got my eyes wide open,

but my ears too.

There's a lot going on in a forest or under the sea.

The sounds of nature.

And I love tuning into them and wondering.

So many of those sounds in nature are about communication.

And some species seem more chatty than others.

Birds and whales seem to have a lot more to say than maybe a bear or a mountain lion.

For me, it's about trying to talk to ravens.

My producers think I'm crazy.

I do it all the time.

I'm just telling him I have to go.

He says, are you coming back tomorrow?

That's you o'clock, I said.

He says, that's too late.
