So today we have a chunky news update with stories about how Disney continues to move into new territory as a lifestyle company,

and how that first iteration of Disney Plus is now over, with the streamer shifting into its second phase that has a different set of goals.

Exactly how successful this new identity of Disney Plus

will be with viewers is yet to be determined and will also finish our discussion of a range

of new offerings at the Florida Resort and what they suggest together about an overall design

shift for attractions at Disney World. And so we have a lot

to cover today, so I'm just going to jump into it all and get this episode going.

Our first story has to do with some homeschool parents using Disney World as the site for weekly or even daily educational discussions and activities.

As we've talked about, Disney is continuing to shift more deeply into a lifestyle company.

That is a company around which consumers find a set of values and experiences that they feel

represent their personality.

Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal ran an article by Meg Tanaka that interviewed Orlando area moms who regularly

use Disney World as a sprawling outdoor classroom for homeschooling. In this micro-world of Disney

homeschooling, there are some inventive strategies for using Disney property for part of a weekly homeschool

curriculum, but beyond this, I found the article an interesting exploration of ways Western

culture is changing from the 20th to the 21st century, with some fans migrating more

toward lifestyle companies to express or to

define their identities and define some tribal groups.

By regularly visiting Disney World for learning opportunities, these homeschool parents, largely

with elementary-aged kids, visit parks at least once a week, but more often multiple

times a week, where they convert the park and resort space into a classroom.
