So today on the podcast, we have one of our book episodes.

Music, Mayhem, and the Mouse by Stan Freeze.

For 45 years, Stan brought music to the American parks.

He opened Walt Disney World as the band leader for the Magic Kingdom in 1971.

Then he moved over to California, where he developed entertainment at Disneyland, and he also

made trips back to Florida to oversee special projects, such as entertainment for the then

being developed Pleasure Island.

For nearly a half century, Stan brought music to the American parks often with his own unique sense of humor.

And right here, I feel I should drop in a clip from Stan to set you up for what's going to follow.

Back then, you could get away with murder.

You know, at least I could.

As always, I'll read, use some sections from the book,

so you can lower yourself down into the language of Stan's world

and feel how his writing works.

But also, my exchange is more of a conversation about his life, work, and memories,

than it is a traditional interview.

I went over to Stan's house a couple

months ago with Joe Campana who helped publish Dan's book. We met with Stan and his lovely wife

Tara and we talked about the stories from his life and also in his memoir. And also, as it will be

Disneyland's 70th anniversary later this week, this seems like the

absolutely perfect show to post today. So pull up a chair and join us as I read you some passages

and as we listen to Stan talk about his memories as well.
