Hello my friends and welcome back to The Morning Mindset and I'm going to start this

morning by asking you this question, what is the meaning of the word devotion? Seriously

consider that for yourself. How would you define that word devotion? We're going to read

a passage today that tells us about the attitude and the demeanor that Jesus followers

had after he had risen from the grave and after he had ascended back into heaven before

their very eyes they saw him fly up into the sky we talked about it yesterday in the episode

that we covered from the book of Acts. Hey if you're with us for the first time thank

you for joining us my name is Carrie Green and if you're returning thank you for joining

us as well this is our opportunity to get our minds aligned with God's truth. We are

reading in Acts chapter 1 today and we've just started this study in the book of Acts

so I'm glad you're with me we're going to be reading verses 12 through 14 and we read

this account then they return to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet which is near Jerusalem

a Sabbath day's journey away and when they had entered they went up to the upper room

where they were staying Peter and John and James and Andrew Philip and Thomas Bartholomew

and Matthew James the son of al-Faiths and Simon the zealot and Judas the son of James all

these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer together with the women and Mary

and the mother of Jesus and his brothers now this seems like a pretty simple account the

disciples and others who are with them have witnessed Jesus resurrection they've seen

him alive and they saw him go into heaven before the very eyes immediately following that

they encountered two angels who told them don't just stand here gazing up into heaven this

Jesus who just left is going to return in a similar way now go go and do what he's told

you to do and so they went and they gathered together and look what it says
