Summary

This week on The Allender Center Podcast, Dan continues the Design of Desire series that opened last week with the idea that much of desire is opposed and that pursuing meaningful desire requires stepping into the war against desire. Here, Dan looks at Genesis 1 and 3 to discuss two categories—the so-called “cultural mandate”—that are at the heart of God’s intention for desire: fill and multiply, and subdue and rule. These categories refer to raising children and tending the earth, but also to so much more than that.

just feels honoring and good for all. And I said, second, a lot of desire is actually

opposed, ultimately opposed by the kingdom of darkness. You have an enemy, an enemy of desire,

that will work to thwart, to steal, to sabotage. And without question, there are

human beings aware or not of that kingdom that actually find a level of joy in standing

about how people give gifts. One friend told me some time ago that she has never gotten a gift

And everyone in the family knew that if there was one color this woman didn't

sentence like, I've never, ever gotten a gift that I asked for. And, as she would

say, look at the gifts that I have gotten, and they are uniquely well designed to oppose to thwart

her. Now, I'm sure that if this woman's family were to hear this, they wouldn't recognize
