Today we're going to talk about what is deemed to be a crisis across

the United States. And that is a crisis of recruitment and retention of the police. And here in

New York City, it's exacerbated by the migrant crisis, which has required, well, in his own

mind, Mayor Eric Adams, he's cut the budget by 5% for the next few years. And what that will do is

the five classes of recruits they intended to put in for the NYPD

will now be cut to zero.

So with the current attrition rate, which is extremely high, because many people are leaving the police force for their own

personal reasons without having reached the mandatory 20 years of service in order to

receive a half-paid pension. So many veteran officers are leaving early. And today's show, that's what we're

going to discuss. We're going to discuss why. Why has policing become such an unattractive job?

The calling that generations of Irish and now Dominican, black people, now going on police departments.

And a lot of times it's generations because once a family member goes in,

other family members feel that it could be their calling also.

But it's not happening anymore because the people that have gone on this job,

and we call the NYPD the job,

cops talk to each other, say you're on the job,

because it's that big of a thing.
