According to the BBC, doctors and Greenland inserted contraceptive devices into several thousand

local women without their knowledge or consent.

This was not some one-off action by a few rogue doctors.

Rather, it was the result of a decades-old settled policy of the ruling Danish government,

which is often the case with hellish government policies.

This was a program that began with a sensibly good intention.

When Danish authorities noticed a dramatic growth in the Inuit population, a native people

group of Greenland, they believed they needed to act.

Ironically, that growth in the population was largely due to the wonders of modern healthcare,

in response, the decision was made to artificially limit the ability of Inuit women to have children,

dealing with one's popular theories about the dangers of overpopulation.

These policies built on the fallacy that children are a burden, not a blessing, were imposed

paternalistically by the Danish on a population they believed were unable to know or act according

to their own best interest.

It was done without the consent or the knowledge of the Inuit victims of these bad ideas.
