Summary

Dan and Nick break down the All-22 coaches film of the Giants’ Week 15 win over the Commanders on the defensive side of the ball by breaking down the end zone and sideline angles from the coaches film. They go play by play, drive by drive, with long extensive breakdowns of each play. They talk about how Wink Martindale approached this game differently than the first matchup – namely by doing everything in his power to take away Terry McLaurin. They discuss issues with the run defense but also – on the flip side – a dominant pass rush emerging behind the best 1-10 grade a Giants pass rush has gotten this season from both Dan and Nick. They finally wrap up with superlatives – highest-effort player, unheralded, best on tape, and more. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

their win. Big win. So some fun defensive plays. It's interesting. This tape, I think from this point on Nick, we're never going to get like a dominant film like we got maybe against, um, trying to think of some the earlier games where the defense really dominant. I actually don't know if there were too many where it like was full domination about the defense this year. Chicago comes to mine. That's for sure, a full dominant game.

But right now, this defense is insanely susceptible. In this film you're about to see, there's

really bad run defense. But more importantly, there's a lot of open receivers that just weren't

hit, either overthrown or not recognized by Hineckee or just that sometimes, you know,

1:09.3

the pressure was there, which is a good thing.

That part's good.

But they're really working with like, you know, they're running on fumes right now, this demon. They don't have any talent really left at the second and third levels. Even Landon Collins, we praised on the after show, and we'll get to it. He made those plays that we went over. He had some bad plays, too, man. There was one run fit he had that just was awful.

And I could see the coach is looking at him.

We'll go over it and some bad plays too, man. There was one run fit he had that just was awful.

And I could see the coaches looking at him. We'll go over it and being like, well, can we really trust this guy as like this massive upgrade that we can just fire onto the field. And yet he is seeing a lot of snaps. I think he will continue to because that's how bad the rest of them are. And so it's going to be interesting when they face good offenses. It starts this week against Minnesota and the Vikings.
