Welcome to the intersection of faith and culture. It's the Wall Builder Show, taken on the hot topics of the day from a biblical, historical, and constitutional perspective. Of course, no hotter topic right now than the assassination of Charlie Kirk and what it means for the culture,

0:21.7

what it means in terms of just the freedom to speak, to have civil discourse, how to deal with

0:32.5

the environment that's been created where people somehow believe that speech can be violence itself if it offends

0:41.6

or if it's termed or labeled as hate speech and therefore then violence to stop that speech is okay.

0:49.6

That's the environment that's been created. So the question is, what do we do about it? And of of course, here at Walbulders, we're all about speech and all about civil discourse and the ability to

0:58.4

proclaim the gospel, to speak truth, to have civil discourse, even with our fellow Christians,

1:03.7

about the gospel and the application and discipleship and the ability to have civil discourse

1:10.5

about how that discipleship affects how we

1:13.5

not only treat our family and our people in our church, but our community and our state and

1:19.8

our nation, and therefore how we do politics, because politics is nothing more than how you

1:24.1

treat your neighbor. That's what it is. And so, you know, our approach here at

1:28.4

Walbilders has always been to have open debate, to be willing to discuss things with anyone.

1:34.4

This means why we do, you know, the Student Summer Institute, for instance, where you have these

1:40.2

young people come in and they're able to ask all kinds of questions and you talk about pretty much

1:43.8

everything. It's why we do Patriot Academy because it's all about teaching people to be

1:48.3

ready to answer, you know, 1st Peter 315 and then of course to do that boldly, to speak in all

1:54.3

boldness, Acts 429. And of course, uniquely training in the legislative process is what we've done at Patriot Academy

2:02.9

for years. But within that process, it's all about debate and discussion and learning to ask

2:08.5

questions and even having, I think one of the great legacies of Charlie Kirk is going to be

2:13.1

showing people how to do that, being polite, but he was, you know, he had to be sometimes

2:19.2

curt, and, and yes, sometimes it, it was painful to people to have their logic, lack of logic

2:25.5

pointed out to them, but he just had a, a wonderful, joyful, happy warrior attitude,
