Last month, I mentioned the men's basketball teams increase in transfer portal usage,

0:04.7

and the same can be said on the women's basketball side here at Michigan.

0:07.8

It's just a fact of life in college basketball these days that the transfer portal has to be part of the process,

0:14.9

part of the strategy, part of the roster complexion.

0:18.4

We recently caught up with one of those women's hoops grad transfers and Lauren Hansen.

0:22.8

That was back on episode 183.

0:25.5

Today, we meet two more.

0:27.1

And what's so unique about these two, former Western Michigan Bronco Taylor Williams

0:31.7

and former Bowling Green Falcon, Alyssa Brett, is that they both have some things very much in common, a la, as I mentioned

1:07.3

to be around this area and in the Big Ten. Yet for those similarities and differences, as you listen to these two conversations,

1:14.7

you'll notice that their portal journey to Ann Arbor featured a pretty similar process.

1:21.1

Immediate interest from Michigan, a great visit, and a desire to be in this program.

1:26.6

And when you think about all of that, the consistency

1:29.4

and the vision of Michigan women's basketball is a pretty easy one to sell at this point,

1:35.5

especially to people who have lived in the state forever or who want to play the type of basketball

1:41.3

that is featured in this league. Now, up transfers, those who go from a mid-major league to a power league in the transfer

1:48.8

portal, are not always successful.
