Hi, my name is Lisa and I'm calling from Hartlin, Michigan and I have noticed grocery prices

really going up from week to week at sometimes an alarming rate.

Even though I have money and can pretty much buy whatever we want to eat, I do shop with

a budget in mind.

If you've gone grocery shopping lately, you might have noticed that the amount on your

receipt isn't what it used to be.

Inflation has affected nearly every facet of life and food is no exception.

The prices of flour and butter have gone up 14 and 16 percent respectively.

Meat and fish prices have risen 13 percent and fresh fruit prices have risen 8 percent.

That's according to a Consumer Price Index report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics

this month.

After the break we'll take a closer look at what's behind the recent surge in food prices.
