Summary

The Dedeaux Download podcast, part of the Peristyle Podcast family of shows, returns with the 2026 college baseball beginning Friday. Shotgun Spratling and Kasey Kazliner continue with the third and final episode in the three-part season preview, leading up to the start of the 2026 USC baseball season.

In the finale of the season preview series, USC head coach Andy Stankiewicz joins the Dedeaux Download to talk about where the Trojans stand heading into Opening Day Friday against Stankiewicz' alma mater, Pepperdine. He discusses how several returners are going to have to take a step forward to replace many of the team's top performers off last year's NCAA tournament team.

Stankiewicz also talks about the Trojans' roster construction this offseason adding an impressive freshman class and some experienced transfers while turning other transfers down that were interested in USC. The head coach also discusses keeping the momentum of the program moving forward after ending a decade-long postseason drought and chats about what fans can expect when they come out to the new Dedeaux Field.

After a break, Shotgun and Kasey take a final preseason look at the roster construction, discuss how the schedule breaks down for the Trojans and looks at the preseason perception of USC baseball this year with the team picked to finish third in the Big Ten. The podcasting duo previews this weekend's matchup with the Pepperdine Waves and answers your email questions about the transfer portal.

I'm your host, Shotkin, Sparling, along with my co-host, Casey Caslinner. Casey, do you have your wardrobe laid out on your bed, ready for the start of college baseball season, like it's the night before the first day of school? Absolutely. I don't know if I'm going to sleep tonight. You know, just out of pure excitement, it feels like Santa's coming in the morning.

But it gets to the point where it was like college basketball, probably what,

0:54.2

10 years ago when they would have the midnight game. The first time you could play and then they have 24 hours straight. Like, I'm waiting for that. But yeah, it should be really fun to see teams in action tomorrow. I'll be watching games throughout the day for sure over here in the frozen tundra of New Jersey. but we'll have plenty of games to watch, and I'll be bouncing around throughout the different
