Summary
Shotgun Spratling and Jack Smith return with another episode of the Dedeaux Download Podcast to break down the fourth week of action in the 2024 season, including the opening Pac-12 Conference series. Again, it was a week where USC baseball showed glimpses of the team it can be, but ultimately struggled to get in the win column.
They break down USC's 2-3 extended week, which included a 'home' series loss to Arizona where the Trojans were blown out in the first two games and then got an electric outing from junior starting pitcher Eric Hammond in the series finale to salvage the weekend.
Hammond joins the Dedeaux Download Podcast to discuss how he was able to rebound from a poor start in his home state of Texas to produce the best start of his career. He also talks about his decision to commit to USC and what the Trojans have to do to turn around a season on the rails.
After the visit with Hammond, Shotgun and Jack look at where the Trojans stand and go three up, three down in a new segment looking at three positives and three negatives from the recent action. They then preview the upcoming series at Stanford, who profiles as a very similar team as the Trojans.
