Summary

Note: This episode originally aired in November 2021.

Today’s guest on Danger Close is Dean Stott. Dean is a former operator in Great Britain’s Special Boat Service, a security consultant, an adventurer, an endurance athlete, and author of the book Relentless: From SBS to World Record Breaker. Dean served in the British military’s SBS before transitioning to the private sector following a parachuting accident in 2011. After a second career as a highly sought after security consultant focused on high-risk jobs involving extortion campaigns, kidnappings, pirates, military coups and civil unrest which included the evacuation of the Canadian Embassy in Libya, he set his sights on breaking a record in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The journey to break a world record led to breaking two records. He is the fastest person to ever cycle the Pan-American Highway — from the southern tip of South America to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. He is the first person ever to complete that journey in under 100 days.  Dean is also a motivational speaker, addressing crowds of thousands with insights into topics like resilience, leadership, and overcoming adversity.  You can find him on Instagram @deanstott
