The U.S. government has been involved in high-stakes talks over the weekend, and today it's

expected to announce some high-profile deals. For example, the White House says a trade deal was reached

with China, and Chinese officials

say there's an announcement coming that will be good news for the world.

That's a big turnaround since the tit-for-tat trade war in recent months has left the U.S.

in China with what the U.S. Treasury Secretary has called an effective trade embargo.

Cargo traffic into U.S. ports has gone way down, while retailers have said tariffs might make price

hikes inevitable. Now, details of a deal are set to be announced today. Separately, President Trump

says India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire with the help of American mediation. And with that,

there's hope the worst fighting in decades between nuclear-armed neighbors has come to an end.
