In the spring of 2006, a disturbing rumor was spreading on inner city streets of Calgary,

alleging that a woman had been confined, tortured, and murdered in a

rooming house notoriously known as the White House.

When officers arrived at the location known for its illicit activity, the landlord consented

to them taking a look around.

They found no signs of foul play. But as the days went by,

two officers who regularly patrolled the area instinctively felt they needed to dig deeper. Further

tips came in and over the course of six days, they spoke with numerous witnesses and uncovered

graphic details of agonizing abuse and violence. They seized a dumpster outside of the White

House and found disturbing items that became their first solid evidence to corroborate the

tips that had been received.

They couldn't help but wonder if further evidence, including the body of a victim,

might have been thrown into the dumpster a week earlier.
