Summary

This is such a great show that I'm astounded that I've not played it on the Deadpod until today.. as the 40th anniversary of this great show approaches I will right that oversight. One of the greatest first sets ever.. from Dijon France, September 18th, 1974. It opens with a warm, delightful Uncle John's Band.. then the great songs roll on, Jack Straw, Friend of the Devil, Black Throated Wind, Scarlet Begonias (!).. its an insane first set and the recording is magnificent as well. There's no reason to enumerate every great song here, but the 'To Lay Me Down' is clearly one of the most powerful ever.,

I hope you enjoy this masterpiece.

0:07.2	As a 40th anniversary of this show approaches, I decided it would be a great time to bring it to you
0:11.6	on the next two Dead Pot. This comes to us from, and you have to excuse my French,
0:16.6	de Jean France from September 18th, 1974 at the Park of Expositions. The first set is just beautifully done. It's very melodic.
0:26.0	It starts out with one of the best Uncle John's bands. You all over here, Jack Straw,
0:31.1	Blackthroated win. A great Scarlet Bagonia's, Mexicali Blues,
0:34.7	Row Jimmy, Beat it on down the line, Deal, a beautiful race is on,
0:39.7	and then one of the best versions of To Lay Me Down you'll hear.
0:43.3	The band closes this first set with a very nice version of playing in the band and it's very
0:48.6	well done. Keith and Donna are perfectly attuned to this I, and sound great. I really enjoy this first set,
0:55.6	I hope that you do too. Of course, 74 is one of the peak years for the band, I think,
1:00.3	and I think it shows on this week's performance of Set 1 from this September 18th, 1974.
