information officer for the Department of Defense and his staff. And Francis, a very

good evening to its revelatory to see the federal government's workers to understand

their human beings walking around with an enormous burden on their shoulders. Always there's

never enough time where there's never enough money. There's never enough staffing. We have

retention. We have recruitment. We have all of that. Plus Francis is going to ask us hard

questions. So what is John Sherman's mission and what is his timeline? Good evening to

you Francis. Good evening John. Thanks for having me on the program as always. John Sherman's

mission is the chief information officer of the Department of Defense is to deploy and deliver

technology capabilities across the enterprise of the Department of Defense. And that's not just

to war fighters in the services, but it's also to the men and women that work behind the

scenes in what's called the fourth estate, the part of the department that's not associated

with one of the services directly, one of the three main conduits of the services directly.

And he in that job interacts very tightly with an organization we've talked about before

called the Defense Information Systems Agency. Disso owns a large piece of the technical

operations and the tactical operations of defense department networks. And so that's John

Sherman's mission. He's tasked with delivering secure information technology resources all
