I am John Batsch.

The Pentagon, a vast iconic building inside the Pentagon are operations, programs, departments,

people who need things to defend the United States and also to make the vast machinery

of the military work efficiently.

That Pentagon, in acquiring things, however, is a mystery.

So I go now to an example I learned from Francis Rose, who keeps the podcast on the website

fedgovtoday.com.

His conversations with people who were in the government, who are now advising the government,

who understand the federal government, and we're talking about one piece of it, the Pentagon.

How does the Pentagon get what it needs to stay up to date on the conflict zones?

Right now we're going to focus on drones.

Conversation that Francis had with his colleague Stan Soloway, who once upon a time was Deputy

Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition Reform.

Exactly the man you want to talk to about drones.

However, I learned from Stan in conversation with Francis that the Pentagon was talking

about drone swarms, something that we are hearing about now all the time in war zones.

Drone swarms more than a dozen years ago.

And yet it's now thanks to the work of one small company and some very clever connections

at the Pentagon.

That the Pentagon finally has the capability for drone swarms.
