0:11.1	Today we're talking about jealousy. It's something we've all experienced, but when it's fueled by family dynamics and deep-seated longing for recognition, it can tear relationships apart.
0:23.7	In today's episode, we step into the world of Joseph and his brothers, where jealousy isn't just a
0:29.1	passing feeling. It's a force that shapes their entire family story. Joseph, who was favored by
0:36.3	his father Jacob, becomes the target of his brother's resentment,
0:40.0	and it sets the stage for conflict and betrayal.
0:43.6	So how do we deal with jealousy in our own lives?

1:06.0	If you're following along in your Bible, today we are in Genesis 37 verses 1 through 4. It's a short passage, just like
1:12.9	yesterday's episode, but it's really significant because it helps us understand some key dynamics
1:18.7	about our own families. This passage really marks the beginning of a journey that's going to
1:23.8	dramatically shape Joseph's future and the history of the Israelite people.
1:28.9	So again, I'm reading from the NIV, the first four verses of chapter 37, but you can read
1:34.8	in your favorite version. Jacob lived in the land where his father had stayed, the land of
1:40.2	Canaan. This is the account of Jacob's family line. Joseph, a young man of 17, was tending the
1:46.6	flocks with his brothers, the sons of Billa and the sons of Zilpa, his father's wives,
1:51.2	and he brought their father a bad report about them. Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his
1:57.2	other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age and he made an ornate
2:02.2	robe for him when his brother saw that their father loved him more than any of them they hated
