Hello, true seekers and welcome back to our summer series on the Beatitudes.

We are talking about what it means to follow Jesus and what it means to be an influencer for Jesus.

Today we are going to look at the fourth beatitude. In the fourth beatitude, Jesus said,

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. This is one of

the most important verses in the sermon on the Mount. This is the foundational requirement for

following Jesus, that we hunger and thirst for righteousness. Jesus is our

righteousness, and so to hunger and thirst after righteousness is to hunger and thirst for Jesus.

So we better understand what it means to hunger and thirst after righteousness. Well, I'm sure you

know what it feels like to be hungry or thirsty.

I don't know about you, but when I get really hungry, all I can do is think about food,

what kind of food I want, how much food I want, where I want to get that food, it's the main

thing on my mind. To hunger and thirst after righteousness is to have a desire for God and for the things of God.

If you're hungry for something, you desire it, you think about it, you want to know more

about it, you want to experience it.

The hungrier you are for Jesus and His righteousness, the more you make time for Him,

the more you will read His Word, the more you want to know what his word says, the more you want to follow him and obey him.

Do you hunger and thirst after Jesus?

Do you hunger and thirst for his holiness and his purity and his righteousness?

Let's talk about a man who knew what it was to hunger and thirst after righteousness.
