All right, it's day 32 on our 40-day tour through the Gospel of John.

We're up to John 15, verses 9 to 27.

So let's get our Bibles open there.

In verse 11, Jesus says this. He says, I've

told you these things so that you'll be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow. I want to put

my joy in you, and I want to make it so complete that it just flows out of you, Jesus says. Do you

have that? I've been looking forward to this episode for a long time because once upon a time somebody told me, taught

me what Jesus was saying here in John 15 and it became a defining moment in my life. It changed the

trajectory of my life. I realized that the joy that Jesus gives that he talks about here in

John 1511, my joy is not necessarily the same as the

world's joy. So often the world teaches us that in order to have joy, happiness, and the world

tends to make those two words synonymous, joy and happiness, in order to have joy, your

circumstances in life have to be good, or perfect would be better. You have to be having a good

day, a good week, a good season of life, and then maybe you can have some joy. But boy, if somebody,

if you lose your job, you got to wait until you get a job. If somebody breaks up with you,

you got to wait until you start a new relationship. If you injure your knee before your sophomore

year of your college basketball

season, you have to wait until it heals until you get off those crutches and you can get back on

the team and then maybe you can have some joy. That was the story I started to tell yesterday

in yesterday's episode. And today I want to tell you the rest of that story when I was a student

at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota.
