Hello, truth seekers and welcome to our summer series, influencers for Jesus.

Today we are going to talk about the second way that we can follow Jesus and be influencers

for him. In his sermon on the Mount, Jesus gave us

a list of beatitudes. Beattitudes means blessings. Blessings will come to those who choose to follow

Jesus and surrender their lives to him. When we become followers of Jesus, we give up all rights to our lives.

We say, Jesus, I am yours. I will follow you. I will obey you. I will do what you ask of me to do.

And I can promise you that a life following Jesus is better than anything else.

And so today we're going to talk about the second beatitude that Jesus gave us.

The second beatitude is one that you might not be expecting when we talk about what does it

look like to be an influencer for Jesus.

Jesus said, blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Now, you might be thinking, man, nobody wants to follow somebody who's mourning and sad all the time.

But let's look at an example of someone who is an influencer for Jesus and who was also known for his mourning.

I'm talking about Jeremiah. Jeremiah was a prophet in the Old Testament. And do you know that Jeremiah's

nickname was the weeping prophet? How would you like to have that as your nickname? To be known as the weeper,

somebody who weeps and cries. Well, Jeremiah is the weeping prophet because Jeremiah had such a heart

and a love for the Lord and his law and his ways. And it broke his heart when he looked around and he saw that the

Israelites were worshipping false gods and were throwing their lives away on empty meaningless

worship to gods that weren't real that couldn't hear them you see Jeremiah had been called by God as a prophet to speak

his words. Jeremiah had been called from the time he was a young man to be an influencer.
