0:10.6	In Psalm 5, David, the king, calls God His King.
0:18.0	It's an act of humility and worship to recognize that even though he is the ruler of a
0:22.6	nation, he's still subordinate to God. In verse 7, after pointing out that evil won't dwell in God's
0:29.5	house, he recognizes that the only reason he gets to be in God's presence is not because he himself
0:35.5	is good, but because God is good. He says, I through the abundance of your
0:41.8	steadfast love will enter your house. David knows his own wickedness. He hasn't forgotten. He doesn't
0:48.5	think he's perfect. He just knows he's been forgiven for it because of his relationship with God.
0:53.8	And again, his fear of God draws him nearer to God.
0:57.5	It doesn't push him away.
0:59.5	In verse 10, when David asked God to punish his enemies,
1:02.8	he doesn't ask God to do it in response to their evil against him,
1:06.5	but in response to their evil against God.
1:09.8	He says,
1:10.9	Cast them out, for they have rebelled against you.
1:14.9	David's love for justice is adjacent to his love for God.
1:19.6	Psalm 38 really endears me to David.
1:22.5	We've probably all experienced some situation like this before.
1:26.4	David is enduring all kinds of pain and suffering simultaneously,
1:30.0	physical, emotional, spiritual, relational, and he knows it's the result of his own sin and foolishness.
1:36.5	He repents of his sin and accepts that these are his consequences, but he asks God to bring him
1:42.2	relief and specifically relief in the form of his nearness and salvation.
