And yesterday we talked about David's confession, and we're going to get to see that more extensive confession and repentance here in these Psalms today. Thank you for being such a good father, a good friend, just a good God in general. We ask you for your forgiveness today, for our sins. Wash our hearts clean today, Lord. We just ask that you please take away anything that might distract us, that might hinder us from being able to come in full fellowship with you today. And as we open up your word, as we read through these words, Lord, that were written so many years ago, we know they're still so relevant to us today. And so I pray Holy Spirit that you will breathe life into them. Allow them to come off of the page and jump into our hearts. I pray that we will be able to hear things, Lord, that we've never heard before and see things we've never seen before. And it is only by your power that that can happen. And so we just welcome you here today. We make room for you today. And we just trustfully that you will be faithful as we seek your face. I just pray that you be with every single person here today, Lord, let them know that you love them, that you're with them, that you're restoring them, that you are bringing breakthrough for them, that you hear

their cries, you hear their prayers, and I just pray, Lord, that you'll give them peace and joy. We love

you so much. I pray these things in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, so we are starting off here in

Psalm 32. This is a wisdom Psalm, but also penitentialm. So again, this being one of David's confessions,

it is likely following the affair that he had with Bathsheba in 2nd Samuel 11, which we read

yesterday, and carrying the same tune as Psalm 51. Now, Psalm 51 has officially been declared

David's confession after his affair with Bathsheba, but this one seems to go right

along with that. So we start off here in verse one. Blessed is the one whose transgression is

forgiven, whose sin is covered, blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity,

and in whose spirit there is no deceit. So notice that he uses three different words for sin here. He's using

transgression, which transgression means to cross the line or to defy authority, whereas sin is sort of

just missing the mark, falling short of what you're supposed to do. Transgression is actually

going beyond that. Iniquity is crickness. It is the way of life.

It is distortion of the goodness and holiness of God. So he asks for three different things,

that he will be forgiven, meaning the burden of that transgression will be lifted,

that he will be covered by that sacrificial blood, that's that atonement for his sin,

and that it will not be counted, meaning it will never be remembered again, that's that atonement for his sin, and that it will not be
