0:07.0	Today we start at our 11th book of the Bible and we're 30% of the way through.
0:17.0	Can you believe it?
0:18.0	Let's jump into 2nd Samuel.
0:21.0	Israel is going through a tough time.
0:22.0	First, their prophet Samuel died, then their
0:24.9	first king and three of his sons died in a battle where they also lost a lot of
0:28.8	land to one of their fiercest enemies. Fortunately, it seems like some people have heard the news that Samuel had
0:34.4	appointed the next king before he died, so there's a rough idea of what will
0:37.6	happen next, but there's no precedent for this and no specific plan in place for
0:41.6	how to move things forward. They're building the plane while
0:44.8	flying it, so to speak. Meanwhile, David has been living at his refugee home in Felicia,
0:49.9	and he's just defeated the Amalekites. So to make sure we have it all straight, we've just
0:54.3	gone through two simultaneous battles, the Battle of Israel and Saul against the Philistines,
0:59.2	which Israel lost, and the Battle of David in Felistia against the Amalekites, which David won.
1:05.0	Confused yet, don't worry about it. The vital parts will all make sense.
1:09.0	First, there's this.
1:11.0	David wasn't anywhere near the battle Saul was fighting. He was a three days journey away.
1:16.0	But an excited messenger decided to make that trek to tell David what he thought would be good news.
1:21.0	Hey, guess what? Your enemy is dead. But this guy obviously doesn't
1:24.4	know David's character. David does not rejoice at this. And on top of that the
1:28.7	messenger seems to think he can score some extra points with the future king
