Do you ever wonder what's the point?

I mean, what's the main point of the whole Bible, of the scriptures?

What's the point for that matter of religion or spirituality, Christianity, of life?

Jesus actually tells us in our Bible reading for today in John chapter 5 in a way that says

blunt and direct and straightforward is almost any other place in all of scripture.

So let's dive into that,

John chapter 5, verses 16 to 47. If you ever forget where we are in the text

and you're watching this on YouTube, it's right there over my left shoulder on the little sign on my

bookshelves. Most of you catch this podcast on audio platforms, though, so I'll try to make sure

to let you know exactly where we are. We're exactly in verse 39 of John

chapter 5, where Jesus tells us the main point. Actually, he's directing these words specifically

to the religious leaders of his day, and he says, you search the scriptures because you think

they give you eternal life, but the scriptures point to me. That is the mic drop moment

of all mic drop moments. I mean, Jesus is saying it's me. It's all about me. But then he goes on
