All right, first a little introduction to our author, St. John

Damascene, born in the year 6.76, died in the year 749. Some items of notes about St. John

Damascene. He did a lot of work fighting what are called the iconoclasts.

Iconiclass are those who are opposed to the veneration of images.

And the iconoclass were up in high places.

One of the iconoclasts that he was up against was the Byzantine Emperor, Leo, the third.

And they have that name because they would literally go into churches and try and destroy the sacred images,
