Welcome to the Heart Dive podcast.

Well, today we are beginning a brand new book, the book of Joshua, so you can use that

little graphic ones again to check off the boxes of all the books that we've read six books so far in the Bible. We have finished the Torah or the Pentateuch, and so now we are finally going to see the people crossing over the Jordan and into the promised land. We'll be reading out of the ESV by Crossway Translation, but before we begin, if you could please help us out by hitting that like button, making sure you're subscribed to the channel. come out each day. And speaking of which, just a heads up, if I could please ask for a little bit

of grace this weekend. There are some busier seasons of my life, and this is definitely one of them.

Today is the state championships for my daughter for gymnastics. And I have got two sets of

family in town. And so there may be a chance where I don't get today's video out. So this video is

from the Saturday or the Sabbath day reading. And there's a chance that today's reading will come out

tomorrow. So I just wanted to let you know that and just thank you so much for your grace. I know I don't have to say that to 99% of you, but I also realize we have some new people here, and so I just wanted to be able to give you a heads up on that. Otherwise, let's go ahead and pray and jump into it, because we've got four chapters we are covering today. Our Father who are in Heaven, and Hallowid be your name. You are holy. you are God Almighty. Thank you so much for everything that you do for us. Thank you for who you are. Thank you for being the great I am, the answer to every need that we have. Forgive us of our sins, Lord, and I ask that you please help us to also forgive others. Lord, if there's anything that is hindering us from being able to hear your word today to see you clearly, I pray that you will remove those obstacles in the name of Jesus.

As we open up your daily bread, the daily manna, everything that we need, I pray that our hearts

will be open and ready to be able to be ministered to by your Holy Spirit. Will you speak to us

individually, Lord? Even where I'm not offering heart checks,

I pray that you will check the hearts of those that you need to. For you know everyone's circumstances.

You know their needs, Lord, and I pray that you will meet them today. Let them know that you are with them,

that you'll never forsake them. And we just thank you so much for this family, this time that we have

to be able to spend together. Thank you for this weekend. And I'm just going to say a special little prayer for my daughter, Rell, Lord, that you will strengthen her, give her balance, give her courage. And I pray that she will be strong and courageous as she competes today. That it'll all be for your glory. In Jesus' name, amen. So the book of Joshua picks up right where we left off after Moses's death. Now Joshua taking the helm,

he is moving forward, leading the people. So most do believe that Joshua wrote the book of Joshua.

There is some debate about that, but we're going with it, starting around 1405 BC, the original

audience, of course, being the original Israelites, but lots of implications and spiritual lessons that we can learn as well.

And the purpose of this really is Israel's conquest of the promised land.

Joshua's original name is Hoshaea, which means salvation.
