0:13.3	Today we hit a big day in our reading, the instructions for the Day of Atonement, the
0:17.8	Day of Covering for Sins and Purging Impurity from their midst.
0:21.5	This annual event happens in the fall about halfway through the Jewish year.
0:24.9	In our current reading, we're just at the start of the Jewish year, so the Day of Atonement
0:29.0	is still a few months off for the Israelites.
0:31.4	Here God's telling them how it's all going to happen when the time comes.
0:35.6	The Jewish name for this day is Yom Kapoor, and it's the only day of the year when the
0:40.4	high priest can enter into the Holy of Holies.
0:43.0	As a refresher, the Holy of Holies is the section at the far back of the tabernacle, separated
0:47.8	from the holy place back curtain, and it's where the ark of the covenant sits with the
0:51.3	mercy seat on top of it, serving as God's throne on earth.
0:55.3	No one gets to enter, ever, except the high priest on this one day.
1:00.4	God gives instructions for how Aaron is supposed to enter, and his instructions present us with
1:04.2	a new theory on what happened to his two oldest sons who were struck dead recently.
1:08.6	Some commentators believe they possibly tried to enter the Holy of Holies, which was strictly
1:12.6	forbidden for them.
1:14.6	God has done so much to draw His people near, but there's still a set-up partners to
1:19.3	Him, a holiness that must be revered.
1:22.8	Why does Aaron get to go in on this particular day?
1:25.6	He's presenting the annual sacrifice as the cover the sins of the priests and the sins
